Twelve months ago the manufacturer of high end audio equipment, Linn, announced they would no longer continue with the production of CD players. Other audio and electronics companies have followed suit and the production of CD players is dwindling. DVD Sales not Affected by Digital Downloads

It’s been said that MP3s and file sharing are doing serious damage to the music industry and the significant decrease in sales of CD albums is evidence of this. However, although CD sales have dwindled thanks to the prevalence of digital music downloads it seems that other forms of physical media such as DVD, Blu-rays and computer games are still selling extremely well despite the fact that much of this content is available digitally. High Capacity Discs on the Way

The capacity of optical media has reached new heights as Pioneer unveil their latest development, 16 layer Blu-Ray discs that are capable of storing 400GBs of data. This technology is still in its very early stages and certain steps had to be taken to minimise the inevitable problems caused by an optical disc with such a high density. (more…)
